Dayan Qi Gong

A Brief Introduction by Yang Mei-Jun

Dayan Qigong, literally meaning Wild Goose Breathing Exercise, is a set of highly salubrious exercises handed down through the ages among exclusive circles of the Taoist Kunlun School. Imitating the postures and movements of the wild goose and assimilating the ancient daoyin methods, it consists of both vigorous and gentle movements in which motion is alternated with stillness. By stimulating a strong sensation of qi, it provides an effective cure for diseases.
The first 64 forms of the exercise take only 5-10 minutes to complete, and are particularly suitable for mental workers of middle or old age. The movements, though rather numerous, are easy to learn, and may be practiced either as a whole or part by part.
Dayan Qigong helps promote blood circulation and clear jingmai, or the passages through which vital energy flows. It helps the performer to take in health-giving air from nature and to discharge foul air from the body. It also enables the practitioner to quickly master the art of emitting waiqi (out-flowing air) to cure diseases for oneself or for other people.
It is particularly good for such ailments as hypertension and hypotension, heart diseases, neurasthenia, insomnia, functional disorder of autonomic nerves, gastrointestinal problems, rheumatoid arthritis and skin diseases. It also helps take off fat from the obese.
Dayan Qigong helps to delay aging and prolong life.

SEVEN STAR QIGONG

These seven forms consist of graceful, well-balanced movements performed in a slow smooth continuous flow that involves every movable joint in the body. The form combines internal and external work (meditation and action) that promotes circulation and awareness of the network of channels in the human body through which vital energy (Qi) circulates.
